Our ORCHARD

@ BIRDWOOD PICK YOUR OWN CHERRIES

Birdwood

Family-centred Adelaide Hills attractions

The Big Rocking Horse, National Motor Museum, Melba's Chocolate Factory, Lobethal Christmas Lights.. are all just minutes away from our cherry orchard. Make a whole day of it - create your new family Christmas tradition!

Flat & Shady

easy picking for everyone in your family

The cherry orchard is considered very flat as far as cherry orchards go! Our entire crop is covered by permanent netting which creates much needed shade. Our trees are easy to pick from - perfect for the littlest to the oldest people in your family.

Unexpected surrounds

A uniquely Australian setting

Experience 'Australiana' at our orchard. Surrounded by majestic gums, cows and sheep, a beautiful dam filled with local ducks and of course apple and pear trees - you will enjoy our unique location.

Family Orientated

We're built for families

We're aimed at families, we have an onsite cafe, space for children to run around and games for you to enjoy as a family. We're a small family business and have based our orchard on what we love doing as a family. We have brought our tried and tested model from our apple orchard @Lenswood Pick Your Own.

Absolutely! We have small children ourselves, 1 and 3 and they are easily able to pick cherries for them selves without having to be held up in the air. They love it! Our trees grow cherries from very low to the ground all the way up to the top of the trees.
  • Is it appropriate to bring people with a walker, wheel chair or significant mobility issues?
This is up to you. We are a commercial farm. The farm has been set up to grow commercial fruit, not cater for wheel chairs and mobility aids. That being said, our orchard is considerably flat and easily accessible compared to other locations which are extremely hilly. However, it is important to consider if using a wheelchair you will be pushing one on grass and potentially on uneven terrain - this is the same for 4 wheel walkers. We also do not have disabled toilets as we are unable to due to council regulations. As we are both nurses, we try our very best to be able to accommodate everyone however, we understand the reality of challenges that may occur using mobility aids on a commercial farm. Feel free to contact us for further information as we are more than happy to help, however, we can not guarantee that we can cater for people will mobility issues.
